This old, quiet place in the Périgord felt as though time had stood still. The scent of wood, the gentle rustling of leaves, the view across the fields - everything breathed a sense of calm. It felt like coming home.

We had no plan. Just a longing for simplicity, space, and something to build ourselves - both literally and figuratively. What followed was a period of searching, tearing things down, laughing, swearing, and starting over.

Here, we found exactly what we were looking for: space, silence, and a genuine connection with nature. Claud du Moine is a homestead where simplicity, sustainability and self-sufficiency guide everything we do.

Enough feels richer than more.

We believe in keeping things small, in respecting nature, and in giving things our full attention. In letting go of the clock, the busyness and the feeling that we always have to do more. Waking to birdsong, having breakfast on the terrace, getting lost in a book or a walk - and, for a moment, feeling: this is enough.

Why do we do this?

Because the world seems to be turning faster than is good for us. Because peace, freedom and contentment have value too. Because, to us, simplicity is not a lack, but a form of richness. Because feeling that you have enough feels richer than the desire for more.

Because it feels right.

Claud du Moine is not a place we happened to stop along the way. It is our destination.

This place makes us happy - and we are happy to share that happiness.

Four facets of the same story.

That is also where the concept for this site came from.

Life Here, The Land, The Workshop and The Library are four facets of the same story. Life Here is who we are and how we live here. The Land is where we live, grow, harvest and continually learn to look at things differently. In The Workshop, we work with what the place gives us: we make, transform and experiment. And in The Library, we collect and share what we learn along the way - experiences, experiments, recipes, techniques, and sometimes even what didn't work.

Everything flows into everything else: from living to doing, from doing to learning, and from learning to sharing. The site grows along with what happens here.
